Getting to know us a little

So, this thing called “life” can be beautiful but also sometimes feel unfair, overwhelming, and, let’s be honest, just plain painful. Whether you are seeking short term support or longer-term therapy, please know you are not alone. No matter where you are on your life’s journey, you are worthy of care, hope, and healing. I offer a warm, compassionate space where clients can be themselves — to be heard and supported, free from judgement – a space to recalibrate. Together, we explore what most matters to you through honest conversations, creative approaches, and practical tools, so you can find clarity and meaning, foster effective coping strategies and build the emotional resilience to move forward with courage and confidence. My approach is holistic, person-centred, and trauma-informed, drawing from a range of evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Strength-Based Therapy, Narrative Therapy (NT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness practices, Nature-Based therapy and psychoeducation. For group sessions, I use a variety of evidence-based modalities, according to the purpose of the group. Please visit our “Group and workshops” page here to know more. I am particularly passionate about supporting women navigating the complexities of a cancer diagnosis. I understand the need to express what’s real, without needing to stay strong for others. In a safe and compassionate space we work together to explore the emotional, physical and social challenges this journey can bring. If this is an area you might find beneficial, please visit our “Supporting women with cancer” page here. I also work in the areas of grief, loss, and bereavement, helping clients navigate this very painful space where life can feel totally upended by the overwhelming feelings of pain and loss. Outside of my work with clients, I find grounding and joy in the simple (but so invaluable!) things of life, like walking through nature, listening to birdsong, tending to my garden, and engaging in creative activities. These activities inspire and nurture my wellbeing, allowing me to bring presence and authenticity to my practice.

“Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.”

- Brené Brown -
Hello! My name is Thia. I am a counsellor and I work with adults of all ages and genders, offering in-person sessions on Mondays and online sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I also facilitate therapeutic groups. I have a Master of Counselling from Monash University and am an accredited member of both the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA). These accreditations protect clients by holding counsellors to high therapeutic standards through codes of conduct. I am also a member of Palliative Care Victoria and Grief Australia. Additionally, I have trained through Brown University, the leading training body in the USA for teachers of Mindfulness-Based Practices. I am particularly fond of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy group programs, having experienced the physical and mental health benefits first-hand. (Please refer to our group program page if you need more information).
